PROSTITUTION LEGALIZATION PRIMER
(A Public Service Announcement from Suburra Publishing.)
Myth #9
Legalization would promote sexual slavery.
Internationally trafficked “sex slaves” are extremely rare. Although the practice does exist, as with other sexually related problems, the international trafficking of sex slaves is grossly exaggerated by the media and our government. They are often cited by anti-prostitution advocates even though their relationship to prostitution is the same as the black colonial slaves’ relationship was to farming.
Moralists argue against common sense that legalizing prostitution increases the demand and supply of trafficked sex slaves. The United States State Department continues to make this assertion on its website even though eight female academic scholars in related fields have protested this dishonesty in a formal letter.
